Job summary

Kin Insurance is seeking an Insurance Counsel - Forms to lead drafting of state policy forms for personal auto or property as Kin expands into new states and products. You will write, review, and file forms, advise product teams on coverage and regulatory compliance, and ensure accuracy in state-specific language.

You will anchor one line of business, back up the other, and collaborate across Claims, Product, and Customer Experience to ensure filings meet regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• JD required and 5+ years of policy form drafting experience.
• Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states.
• Ability to read and translate state statutes/regulations into policy language.
• Draft responses to regulator objections on form filings.
• Advise internal partners on coverage interpretation and policy wording.
• Independently draft comprehensive forms packages for filing.

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and draft compliant, clear policy wording.
• Draft responses to DOI objections and advocate with regulators.
• Provide legal guidance on coverage interpretation to internal teams.
• Create state/form packages including base policies, endorsements, notices.
• Review forms and escalate novel state law questions to Senior Insurance Counsel.
• Maintain countrywide base forms and state kits for the line.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language for faster state packaging.
• Deliver internal training on policy forms and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
• Identify legal risks in product designs before drafting.
• Review AI-assisted drafts for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Update forms packages in response to statutes and DOI bulletins.
