Job summary

Kin Insurance is seeking an Insurance Counsel - Forms to turn aggressive state and product expansion into filing-ready policy language. Kin is entering new states and launching products now, with drafting ownership for your line of business and backup for the other line.

You will craft complete state and product forms packages, handle regulator objections, and advise internal partners on coverage interpretation. This is a remote-first role reporting to Senior Insurance Counsel.

Qualifications

• JD required with 5+ years of forms drafting experience or equivalent.
• Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states.
• Ability to read state statutes and translate them into policy language.

Responsibilities

• Research state statutes and translate into compliant policy wording.
• Draft responses to regulator objections and advocate for Kin's position.
• Advise internal partners on coverage interpretation and policy wording.
• Draft complete state and product forms packages ready for filing.
• Perform first-pass legal review and escalate novel state law questions.
• Maintain countrywide base forms and state kits for your line of business.
• Establish drafting standards and reusable language to speed up packages.
• Design and deliver internal training on policy forms and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as backup drafter for the other line of business.
• Identify legal risks in product designs before drafting.
• Review AI-assisted drafts for accuracy and compliance.
• Update forms packages in response to statutes and product changes.
