Job summary

Ferguson is seeking an Inside Sales Representative for our Chesapeake, VA location. You will prepare pricing proposals, support bids, and provide technical information to outside sales reps.

The role includes training in the warehouse, yard, and at the sales counter, with a starting pay of $23 per hour and a typical schedule Monday–Friday. We value candidate versatility, physical readiness, and the ability to manage orders from inquiry through invoicing.

Qualifications

• 1 to 3 years of experience in a sales support, customer service, or related role.
• Experience in Waterworks or Construction is a plus.
• Must be comfortable performing physically demanding work.
• Ability to transition between warehouse, yard, counter, and administrative duties as needed.
• Experience in a target-driven sales environment preferred.
• Developing knowledge of sales techniques such as prospecting, negotiation, persuasion, and closing.
• Strong organizational and project management skills; experience in project management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage pricing proposals and quotations for products and services across various projects.
• Support new sales opportunities by monitoring bids, researching projects, and assisting with prospecting efforts.
• Provide product and technical information to outside sales representatives, supporting efforts to generate sales in the utility market segment.
• Develop and maintain customer documentation that outlines product information and solution details.
• Act as a liaison between customers and internal teams, ensuring effective communication, timely order fulfillment, and resolution of technical or service-related issues.
• Oversee and support the full Order-to-Invoice cycle, ensuring quality standards are upheld and all corrective actions and field quality reports are managed effectively.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, including Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance and complete other duties as assigned.
• This role involves training in the warehouse, yard, and at the sales counter.
