Job summary

The Dow Chemical Company in Wilmington, DE seeks an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician to join the plant support team, maintaining instrumentation, electrical systems and the process control system while supporting safe pilot plant operations.

You will collaborate with operations and maintenance staff to ensure ongoing safe, proficient operations and to support project scoping. The role requires technical training and readiness to work weekends and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a science related discipline or Military Degree Equivalency with 3 years of relevant work experience or high school diploma/GED with 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Electrical license or higher learning degree or Military certification. Certifications may include: I&E degrees, electrician or electrical technician training and certificates, BS in Electrical Engineering.
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays, if required.
• Willingness to work overtime, if required.
• Must have a current, valid US driver’s license.
• Ability to work legally in the United States; no visa sponsorship is available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Applies experience and training to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
• Specifies, requisitions, and installs parts and equipment for small projects.
• Scopes electrical, instrumentation, and DCS requirements for capital project estimation.
• Sets up, calibrates, tests, and repairs controls and instruments (pneumatic, electrical, electronic).
• Performs operations tasks per Master Task List (e.g. field checks, calibrations).
• Uses troubleshooting skills to resolve process deviations and understands team interdependencies.
• Performs instrumentation troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance.
• Delivers improvements in plant performance and operating discipline, including instrumentation/electrical procedures.
• Participates in Root Cause Investigations.
• Performs process upset/crisis response activities as directed.
• Demonstrates Life Critical Standards and safety culture.
• Completes all required training per facility plan.
