Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama is seeking an experienced Mail Lead to manage inbound mailroom operations at our Birmingham campus. You will oversee daily workflows, ensure service levels, and coordinate receipt, processing and distribution of mail and packages while training staff and addressing operational issues.

The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, the ability to collaborate across business lines, and the physical capacity to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience researching and analyzing data and preparing reports.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Experience interacting with all levels of internal staff with minimal supervision.
• Adaptability to changes and collaboration across multiple lines of business activities.
• Experience diagnosing problems and recommending solutions.
• Valid US driver’s license.
• Willingness to lift weights up to 50 lbs. frequently.
• Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years mailroom ops exp in lieu of degree strongly preferred.
• Proficient computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• The incoming Mail Lead provides operational leadership for inbound mailroom activities and supports management in overseeing daily workflow, service levels, and operational effectiveness.
• Coordinates receipt, processing, distribution, and tracking of inbound mail and packages; trains and supports team members; serves as primary point of contact for operational issues.
• Works with internal partners and vendors to ensure timely service delivery, supports process improvements, and participates in special projects; acts as backup for essential mailroom functions; on-site essential role.
