Job summary

Post University seeks a Compliance & Contracts Attorney to serve as a trusted legal advisor to university stakeholders, focusing on contracts, privacy, and regulatory compliance. This is a fully remote position with limited travel (<5%).

You will draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, provide guidance on FERPA, data privacy, IT security, and university policies, and collaborate with the Legal & Compliance teams to support online and on-campus programs.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited US law school.
• Admitted and in good standing in at least one state bar; Connecticut house counsel status required.
• At least two years of experience practicing as a lawyer.
• Experience in higher education is welcome but not required.
• Strong critical thinking and excellent legal analysis skills.
• Interest in developing expertise in contract review and key provisions.
• Eager to learn and stay updated on changing regulations related to University business.
• Ability to develop knowledge of laws related to higher education.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Outstanding customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Drafts, reviews, revises, and negotiates a variety of agreements including vendor and technology agreements, strategic partnerships and alliances, and data privacy/IP matters.
• Reviews outgoing group student communications for regulatory compliance.
• Provides legal advice relating to ethical operations and compliance.
• Assists with international compliance for international student population.
• Supports IP matters as requested.
• Assists with privacy, GLBA, GDPR, NCAA, FERPA, TCPA, Title VI, and marketing compliance as learned.
• Performs legal research and develops resource material for educational outreach.
• May assist with student concerns and employment matters after gaining familiarity with University practices.
• Collaborates with associates throughout the University.
• Other duties as assigned.
