Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students in elementary, middle and/or high school to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor progress and support teachers with instruction and student assistance.

Entry-level, paid full-time service with 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year, plus benefits and education awards through City Year AmeriCorps.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching or mentoring is not required; training is provided at the start of the year.
• Ability to work with diverse students, teachers and staff in a school setting.
• Strong commitment to helping students succeed and grow.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academics, attendance, and behavior.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support classroom instruction.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to collect and review student progress data.
