Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students, helping them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors in school.

You’ll receive 2–4 weeks of training at the start, collaborate with teachers and staff, monitor progress, and support classroom and school-wide initiatives throughout the year.

This entry-level, paid full-time position includes health-related benefits and a living stipend.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and math activities by student level
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students
• Develop interpersonal skills through learning, practice, reflection and repetition
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, record, analyze and monitor student progress
• Create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom space with the teacher
• Support extended day and virtual programming before, during and after school
• Co-lead events or programs recognizing student growth in math, literacy, attendance and behavior
