Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students in elementary, middle and/or high school to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. Training is provided for 2–4 weeks at the start of the year, with ongoing support from partnering teachers and staff.

You will participate in classroom activities, literacy/math development, and whole-school initiatives to boost student engagement and learning outcomes.

Qualifications

• Entry-level; no prior experience required.
• 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to achieve academic success and improve attendance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction.
• Create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom space in collaboration with teachers.
• Support and/or conduct extended day and virtual programming before, during and after school.
