Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a senior leader to oversee the Publications team, ensuring high-quality clinical manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations align with strategic plans. You will manage resources, coach staff, and drive collaboration across global stakeholders to deliver on therapeutic-area publication goals.

Reporting to the Publications Director, you will guide tactical execution, maintain timelines and budgets, and ensure consistency with Publication Policies while mentoring

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of medical/scientific publications experience.
• Demonstrated leadership in a team setting.
• Ability to interpret medical data and publishable content.
• Knowledge of publication structures, regulations and best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for senior audiences.
• Strong cross-functional relationship-building and collaboration.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of publication managers reporting to the Publications Director.
• Direct cross-functional Publications Team for assigned assets and milestones.
• Oversee tactical execution of publication plans within timelines and budgets.
• Review publications for quality and alignment with platforms.
• Collaborate with Directors to manage outsourcing budgets and resources.
• Provide management oversight to internal/external writers and vendors.
• Conduct performance assessments and talent development for staff.
• Address issues and ensure accurate publication records.
