Job summary

HDR seeks a Geotechnical Engineer to lead analysis, design, and construction activities for hydropower projects in the Southeast. You will manage geotechnical investigations, oversee testing programs, and produce analyses and reports that support dam safety and project delivery.

This role offers growth to project management and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Preferred candidates hold a NC PE license, 5+ years of geotechnical experience, and familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering required.
Professional Engineer license in NC required or clearly eligible for licensure.
Experience with dam safety inspections and geotechnical instrumentation is a plus.
Strong technical writing and communication skills expected.
Ability to work independently on small projects and collaboratively on larger teams.

Responsibilities

Lead analysis, design, and construction efforts for dam modification and large-scale hydropower projects.
Conduct geotechnical field investigations and oversee laboratory testing programs.
Prepare geotechnical analyses, design calculations and technical reports.
Review dam safety instrumentation data and model responses.
Support project marketing and client engagements for internal/external opportunities.
