Job summary

HDR is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join the Hydropower program across the Southeast. You will lead analysis, design, and construction for large dams and critical infrastructure, guiding field investigations and preparing technical reports.

This role balances technical leadership with potential project management and client engagement across multiple sites. Preferred candidates hold a PE license (NC), 5 years geotechnical experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required or recognized by the local licensing board.
  • 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation or GIS is required.
  • Experience with GeoStudio/Ensoft slope stability, settlement, seepage and deep foundation analysis is needed.
  • Experience with Bentley suite for geotechnical data management and visualization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead analysis, design, and construction modifications for large-scale dams and critical power infrastructure.
  • Drive project workflows, planning, and geotechnical field investigations.
  • Prepare geotechnical analyses, design calculations, and engineering reports.
  • Review dam safety instrumentation data and perform FE modeling of dams.
  • Support marketing efforts and act as a Project Manager for mid-size initiatives.
