Job summary

HDR is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Hydropower program in the Southeast. You will lead analysis, design and construction tasks for large-scale dams and critical power infrastructure across the region.

The role offers opportunities to act as a Technical Specialist and occasionally as Project Manager on mid-size initiatives. The position emphasizes independent work, strong writing and communication skills, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical/Geological Engineering or equivalent.
• PE license in NC preferred or required.
• Experience with dam safety and field/lab testing.
• Proficiency with Bentley GeoStudio and gINT/OpenGround.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical analysis and design for large-scale dams and power infrastructure.
• Drive project workflows and planning; conduct field investigations and lab testing.
• Prepare analyses, design calculations, drawings and specs; review dam instrumentation data.
• Model dams with finite element methods; support marketing and client engagement.
