Job summary

Piper Companies seeks a Technical Support Engineer to back a leading organization in networking and technology. This hybrid role is based in the RTP, NC area, with onsite every Tuesday and remote work the rest of the week.

It starts as an initial 3‑month contract with quarterly extensions and strong long‑term potential. The engineer will collaborate with customers and internal teams on onboarding, configuration, and platform adoption, handling IT infrastructure, networking, and connectivity

Qualifications

• 2+ years in technical support, IT support, network support, help desk, or related role.
• Hands-on networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, SSH, SNMP, virtualization.
• Experience with Windows environments, AD, Microsoft 365, Entra ID/Azure AD, Windows Server preferred.
• Understanding of cybersecurity concepts: patching, vulnerability mgmt, hardening, CVEs.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving across infra, network, and software.
• Excellent communication to explain tech to non-tech audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS/cybersecurity or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Partner with customer IT to support onboarding, implementation, and activation of tech solutions.
• Assist with deployment, configuration, and support of VM-based collectors, integrations, and monitoring tools.
• Provide guidance on networking, connectivity, system access, DNS, IP addressing, firewall policies, and auth requirements.
• Support cloud-based implementations, API integrations, migrations, and platform adoption initiatives.
• Troubleshoot infra, networking, and app issues and coordinate resolutions with engineering/support teams.
• Deliver technical training and end-user guidance to ensure proper platform use.
• Document customer environments, configurations, troubleshooting, and milestones.
