Job summary

Brooklyn Law School seeks a Systems & Emerging Technologies Librarian to manage library systems, hardware, software, web services and applications. You will oversee digital resources, authentication, and the library’s evolving technology stack in a hybrid work environment.

You will collaborate with acquisitions and IT, develop training, and support instructors in legal research technologies, while advancing accessibility and user-centered services in a legal academic setting.

Qualifications

• MLS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited library school.
• Demonstrated expertise and aptitude for learning technology related to job duties.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an academic community.
• Knowledge of legal electronic information resources.
• Interest in emerging library practices and technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt to change in a dynamic environment.
• Commitment to user-centered service in a legal academic setting.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience (or substitution with relevant education).

Responsibilities

• Oversee library systems administration, configuration, and maintenance (Koha, EBSCO Discovery Service, OpenAthens, LibApps, etc.).
• Manage library technology supporting public services, research, instruction, and operations; develop policies and training.
• Plan and implement new library technologies; document workflows and coordinate with campus IT.
• Collect and analyze systems usage data to inform planning and decision-making.
• Assist with instructional technology and training for legal research instruction and related services.
• Collaborate with director, staff, campus IT, and vendors on issues and improvements.
• Oversee digital collections management and the institutional repository; supervise staff for IR content uploads and exhibits.
• Provide reference services in person and virtually; participate in instruction and programming.
• Engage in professional development and association activities.
