Job summary

Overlake Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Referral Coordinator to manage the referral workflow for the site, coordinating scheduling with specialty, hospital, and ancillary providers as requested by medical staff.

The role requires organizing appointments, ensuring patient data is transferred to the correct provider, notifying patients, and tracking referral compliance. It is a full-time position with a 40-hour schedule and a hybrid option after a 90-day training period.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• AA or BA preferred.
• Requires minimum of one year working experience in an outpatient physician clinic.
• Experience working with the referral/authorization process preferred.
• Strong analytical and computer skills required.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to work with physicians, patients, and staff.
• Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of electronic medical records preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Knowledge of managed care preauthorization procedures preferred.
• General insurance knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all medical care and test referrals for the site.
• Schedule referrals to specialty, hospital and ancillary providers as requested by OMC's medical providers.
• Ensure patient referral information is received by the provider and that appointments are scheduled and confirmed.
• Notify patients of their appointments and any special testing requirements.
• Track patient compliance with referral appointments.
