Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Knoxville, TN, is seeking a lead-level Structural Engineer to drive multi-disciplinary design efforts in a hybrid work arrangement. You will oversee calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports, applying advanced structural expertise to foundations and support structures.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate in project meetings, and travel to client sites as needed. A BSSE/MSSE from ABET-accredited program and 10+ years of progressive experience are required,

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance.
• BSSE or MSSE degree from an ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in structural engineering.
• Experience with producing engineering designs for foundations, structures, support structures.
• Experience with ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC.
• DOE site experience preferred; travel to project locations.
• Experience in preparing design drawings, analyses, calculations, and procurement/construction specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design engineering efforts on a multi-disciplined project design team.
• Produce engineering calculations/analyses, design drawings, specifications, and reports; ensure technical soundness per project requirements.
• Apply civil/structural engineering expertise to design and qualification of structures, systems, and components.
• Produce Procurement Specifications and Construction Specifications (Structural sections).
• Monitor staff work; manage tasks within schedule and budget.
• Attend project meetings and perform field walkdowns; mentor junior engineers.
