Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a lead structural design engineer for a hybrid role combining home and office work. You will lead multidisciplinary design efforts, produce calculations, drawings and specifications, and mentor junior engineers. The position requires a U.S.

citizen with the ability to obtain a government security clearance and ABET-accredited BSSE/MSSE with 12+ years of experience. Work will involve designing foundations and structures, coordinating with DOE-related projects, and traveling

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance.
• BSSE or MSSE degree or similar from an ABET-accredited program.
• 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in structural engineering.
• Experience with designing foundations, structures, and support structures.
• Experience with ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC.
• DOE sites and facilities experience preferred.
• Experience preparing design drawings, analyses, calculations, and procurement specifications.
• Willingness to travel for client meetings, walk-downs and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design engineering on multi-disciplined project teams.
• Produce engineering calculations/analyses, design drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Apply civil/structural engineering expertise to design and qualification of structures, systems, components.
• Produce procurement and construction specifications (Structural sections).
• Monitor staff work, manage tasks within schedule and budget.
• Attend project meetings and perform field walkdowns.
• Mentor junior engineers.
