Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Knoxville is seeking a senior structural engineer to lead a team on nuclear facilities projects. You will guide design and analysis of steel frames, concrete members, and foundations, while coordinating with clients and other disciplines.

The role includes mentoring engineers, conducting design reviews, and traveling to client sites when required. A hybrid work arrangement is offered with three days in the Knoxville office and two days remote.

Qualifications

• BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Ten or more years of experience on a project team in design and analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• PE or SE license.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a structural engineering team on projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades.
• Guide design calculations, develop specifications, and coordinate with designers for drawing development.
• Oversee structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel to client and vendor sites for design reviews and construction coordination as needed.
