Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a lead structural design engineer in Knoxville, TN for a hybrid role blending home and office work. You will lead multi-disciplinary design efforts, produce calculations and drawings, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring on-time, within-budget project delivery.

Ideal candidates have 12+ years in structural engineering, ABET-accredited BSSE/MSSE, and ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance; DOE experience and familiarity with ACI/ASCE 7/IBC/AISC are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain U.S. Government security clearance.
• ABET-accredited BSSE or MSSE degree required.
• 12+ years of progressively responsible structural engineering experience.
• Experience producing designs for foundations, structures, and support structures.
• Experience with ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC.
• DOE site experience preferred; travel to project locations required.
• Preparation of design drawings, analyses, calculations, specifications, and procurement/construction docs.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design efforts on multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Produce calculations, analyses, drawings, specifications and reports.
• Apply civil/structural engineering expertise to design and qualification of structures/systems/components.
• Produce procurement and construction specifications (Structural sections).
• Monitor and mentor staff; manage tasks within schedule and budget.
• Attend project meetings and perform field walkdowns.
• Travel to project locations for client meetings and site visits.
