Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance.
• BS/MSE or MSME from ABET-accredited program with thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluids, machine design, or thermal systems.
• 10+ years progressive mechanical engineering experience, preferably in a nuclear environment.
• Experience with piping, pressure vessels, HVAC, and/or radioactive material handling systems.
• Knowledge of codes/standards: ASME B31 piping, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, ASME AG-1.
• Experience with FEA or advanced software: ANSYS, AutoPIPE, Datacor/AFT, HAP, Trace 700.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design engineering on a multi-disciplined project team for special purpose equipment, pressure vessels, interfaces, controls, and structural supports.
• Prepare and review complex calculations.
• Prepare and review mechanical system/equipment designs.
• Prepare and review design inputs for drawings (P&IDs, machine layouts, GA drawings).
• Prepare and review equipment specifications.
• Communicate with vendors via written specifications.
• Prepare and review reports/studies.
• Develop project budgets, schedules, and work plans; monitor progress within budget.
• Interface with customers in project meetings.
• Mentor junior engineers.
