Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an engineer to join a project team focused on electrical distribution design and analysis. The role involves preparing construction sketches, carrying out short-circuit calculations, and supporting maintenance and recapitalization of distribution components.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with three days in the office and two remote days, and a generous relocation package depending on location.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in engineering.
• 1+ years of experience in electric utility distribution.
• Knowledge of physical distribution design methods and their application.
• Familiarity with NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD.
• Experience with overhead/underground distribution projects (120/208V through 34kV).
• Strong communication skills.
• ABET-accredited engineering degree valued.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction sketches and details for overhead and underground network services (4 KV through 34 KV).
• Perform structural analyses.
• Conduct short circuit and voltage drop calculations.
• Create Bill of Materials and cost estimates.
• Develop traffic control plans and permit drawings.
• Analyze and design priority feeds.
• Support maintenance and recapitalization of distribution components.
• Plan system modifications and design complex tasks.
• Develop work packages and provide as-builts at completion.
