Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an electrical engineer to join our distribution design team in a hybrid Chicago-area role. You will work with project leads and engineers on overhead and underground networks, do sketches, calculations, and BOMs, and prepare cost estimates.

Ideal candidates bring ABET-accredited degree and 2+ years in electric utility distribution, with proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and related tools. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for client-focused success.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
Two+ years in electric utility distribution or related experience.
Knowledgeable in distribution design methods and standards.
Familiar with codes and software such as NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE.
Experience with overhead/underground distribution projects (120/208V through 34kV).
Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

Prepare construction sketches and details for overhead and underground network services (4 KV through 34 KV).
Analyze and design priority feeds; plan modifications to the system.
Support maintenance and recapitalization of distribution components.
Develop work packages and provide as-builts at project completion.
