Job summary

Eaton’s Electrical Critical Power Solutions Division is seeking a Specialist Digital Controls and Embedded Software Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on DSP algorithms for high‑power UPS systems and energy storage products, with real-time control development in MATLAB/Simulink and OPAL-RT validation.

You will collaborate across global product teams, lead development using new technologies, and ensure performance, safety, and reliability while delivering on schedule and budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 8+ years in real-time digital controls and algorithms for power electronics or industrial products.
• MS in Electrical or related Engineering with 5+ years in real-time digital controls and algorithms for power electronics or industrial products.
• PhD in Electrical or related engineering with 2+ years in real-time digital controls and algorithms for power electronics or industrial products.

Responsibilities

• Launch critical power infrastructure products meeting requirements, safety, quality, reliability, cost and schedule commitments.
• Provide guidance and leadership to technical project team members.
• Collaborate with global teams to solve performance, safety, reliability, and component availability issues.
• Develop mathematical models and algorithms for advanced DSP controls of power conversion products.
• Create simulations using MATLAB/Simulink and verify designs via simulations.
• Validate designs using real-time simulation systems such as OPAL-RT.
• Interface with cross-functional teams to deliver new products (UPS, energy storage, advanced tech).
• Lead product development using new technologies from Eaton COEs and ERLs.
