Job summary

VHB is seeking a Billing Analyst to join our New England Regional Finance team. This hybrid role based in Massachusetts (Boston, Springfield, Watertown, or Worcester) supports billing and financial administration for engineering projects, ensuring accurate, timely invoicing and strong project performance.

You will manage client invoices, billing cycles, project setup, and AR; collaborate with PMs and finance; and help improve billing processes.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Management or related field; bachelor’s preferred.
• 0–4 years of billing, accounts receivable, collections, or finance operations experience.
• Experience in professional services, engineering, architecture, construction or project-based environment preferred.
• Experience with an ERP/accounting system; familiarity with Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and process client invoices per contract terms and deadlines.
• Manage recurring billing cycles, revisions, credit/rebill activity, and corrections.
• Support project setup and budgeting by reviewing contract compensation and billing methods.
• Maintain accurate project financial records and billing documentation.
• Coordinate accounts payable with subconsultants and vendors.
• Research and resolve billing questions and discrepancies.
• Monitor AR aging and follow up on outstanding invoices with PMs and finance leadership.
• Apply payments, reconcile unapplied cash, and assist with billing adjustments.
• Partner with PMs and stakeholders to resolve disputes and aid collections.
• Prepare routine billing, AR aging, and trend analyses for leadership.
• Identify opportunities to improve billing processes and reporting.
• Support finance tasks and track general office expenses as needed.
