R.E. Michel Company, LLC is seeking a Counter Sales 1 in Virginia Beach, VA. This full-time, non-exempt role handles customer service, order placement, invoicing, and showroom/warehouse support.

Responsibilities include assisting customers, processing payments, loading items, and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-presented branch environment. The position requires strong communication, basic math, and computer skills, with familiarity of inventory systems like Prophet 21.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal communication with customers and the public.
• Strong interpersonal skills to service customers in-branch, over the phone, or at delivery sites.
• Proficient with computers; able to operate business software such as Prophet 21.
• Basic math skills; understand markup vs gross margin and impact on margins and expenses.
• Able to read invoices, catalogs, stock numbers and descriptions to identify items.

Responsibilities

• Provide fast and friendly customer service in person or by phone.
• Greet customers as they enter the branch.
• Enter customer orders into the system on the same day received.
• Pull orders from warehouse and load into delivery trucks or staging area.
• Produce and complete invoices, CODs, special orders, and shipping/receiving paperwork.
• Ensure all products leaving the branch are billed; collect payment by cash or credit card.
• Process customer returns and warranties the same day received.
• Maintain self-service area with restocking and tidying.
• Create/maintain branch displays supporting programs and market strengths.
• Locate products for customers and provide delivery/backorder updates.
• Report damage, safety issues, and accidents to supervisor.
• Use sales tactics to promote items and stay updated on product information.
• Perform warehouse duties as needed (cleaning, loading/unloading, etc.).
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment; wear company uniform.
