Job summary

R.E. Michel Company, LLC is hiring an entry level Counter Sales associate in Onley, VA. You will handle calls, assist customers, generate invoices, and support delivery to customer sites. The role requires basic product knowledge and reliable computer usage, including Prophet 21.

You will upsell items, maintain branch displays, and help with warehouse duties. A strong customer focus and team attitude are essential for day-to-day operations and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of Heating and Cooling systems, parts and supplies is preferred.
• Excellent verbal communication skills with the general public and/or customers.
• Excellent attitude and interpersonal skills necessary to service customers in the branch, on the telephone or at the delivery site.
• Demonstrated proficiency while operating a computer and Prophet 21.
• Basic math skills. Understands markup vs gross margin and their impact.
• Ability to read invoices, catalogs, stock numbers and descriptions to identify items.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone calls, locate items, service customers and generate invoices.
• Load items in customer vehicles and deliver products to customer locations.
• Enter customer orders in the system on the same day received and ensure timely billing.
• Pull orders from the warehouse and prepare paperwork including invoices and shipping docs.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and restock as needed.
• Promote products, upsell specials and stay current with new product information.
