Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking an HV SCADA Engineer II to provide intermediate engineering support for design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of high‑voltage SCADA systems on utility‑scale solar, storage and substations projects. The role supports EPC delivery under established standards and supervision.

This position can be fully remote or based in Bend, OR, San Diego, CA, or Raleigh, NC. Travel ~20% of time is expected for onsite commissioning and field support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred.
• 2–4 years of SCADA engineering experience, with substation SCADA experience preferred.
• Ability to read engineering drawings: SLDs, equipment layouts, diagrams & panel drawings.
• Knowledge of protection relays and power meters.
• Experience coordinating with utilities for interconnects and standards compliance.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, IEC 61131-3.
• Experience with RTAC and acSELerator software.
• Experience with Ignition or similar HMI.
• Knowledge of SCADA networks using fiber, serial, and Ethernet.
• Experience with PLC environments such as RTAC platforms, Allen‑Bradley, GE/Emerson, or similar.
• Exposure to PV solar monitoring beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Review SCADA system requirements for substations tied to utility-scale projects.
• Support HV SCADA design development and drawings to meet project specs.
• Verify substation point lists against relay and meter settings.
• Program and commission RTACs, Phasor Data Concentrators, and HMIs.
• Coordinate network settings and IP assignments for substation equipment.
• Troubleshoot communication issues between devices and controllers.
• Provide technical support for various substation configurations.
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and field technicians during commissioning.
• Compare drawings to site conditions to ensure proper installation.
• Travel approximately 20% of duties for onsite work.
• Learn and adapt the software and hardware used by SOLV.
• Report project status and risks with project management teams.
• Promote NERC compliance and maintain governance standards.
• Provide feedback to product teams to improve the SOLV SCADA Platform.
• Maintain safe working environment per company safety standards.
