Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking an HV SCADA Engineer II to provide intermediate engineering support for design, configuration, testing, and commissioning of high voltage SCADA systems on utility-scale renewable and substation projects. Remote option or office locations include Bend, OR, San Diego, CA, or Raleigh, NC; travel required about 20% onsite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related technical discipline preferred.
• 2–4 years of SCADA engineering experience (substation SCADA preferred).
• Ability to read and understand electrical drawings including Single-line, Equipment Layout, & Panel drawings.
• Knowledge of protection relays and power meters.
• Experience coordinating with utility companies for interconnects and standards compliance.
• Experience with programming languages (C, C++, Java, Python, IEC 61131-3).
• Experience with SEL’s acSELerator RTAC and acSELerator Quickset.
• Experience with Ignition SCADA or similar HMI software.
• Knowledge of SCADA networks (Fiber, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet).
• Experience with PLC environments (SEL RTAC, Allen-Bradley, GE/Emerson RX3i).
• Understanding of industrial automation protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA).
• Ability to work with subcontractors and field personnel.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review SCADA system requirements for substations in renewable energy projects.
• Support HV SCADA system design, development, and drawings.
• Verify substation point lists against relay and meter settings.
• Program and commission RTACs, Phasor Data Concentrators, and HMIs.
• Coordinate network settings and IP assignments for substation equipment.
• Troubleshoot communication issues between devices and controllers.
• Provide technical support for diverse substation configurations.
• Interact with customers, vendors, and field technicians during commissioning.
