Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Substations Project Manager to lead HV/EHV substation projects across multiple US locations, including Fort Worth, TX. You will supervise engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and energization efforts while managing budgets, schedules, and safety.

This role emphasizes cross-functional leadership and strict QA/QC adherence. Responsibilities include developing project plans, risk management, and client reporting, with occasional travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline required.
• 7–10 years in a project management role for HV/EHV substation or utility-scale projects.
• Experience with PM lifecycle, including procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, energization.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to assess schedule, cost, and risk; solve complex problems.
• Effective interpersonal skills and leadership of junior staff.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and maintain QA/QC.
• Proficient with MS Office and PM tools.
• Willingness to travel occasionally as required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cross-functional engineering, design, and construction teams on HV/EHV substations.
• Develop cost estimates, scopes of work, schedules, and execution strategies for utility-scale projects.
• Create WBS and cost-loaded schedules for engineering, procurement, construction, testing and energization.
• Set QA/QC expectations and ensure compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to margin analysis, risk registers, and contingency planning.
• Manage contract negotiations, presentations, and stakeholder meetings.
• Prepare initiation/setup documents (RMP, PMP, QP, PSP, Communications Plan).
• Monitor earned value, cash flow, and budget across projects or portfolios.
• Provide regular client and management updates and address issues promptly.
• Coordinate resources and subcontractors; ensure health and safety on site.
• Lead project closeout and conduct lessons-learned sessions.
