Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is seeking a skilled worker's compensation specialist to manage federal cases within the Workers' Compensation Branch.

The role involves guiding injured employees, supervisors, and ICCs, ensuring accurate documentation and timely payments while complying with FECA and DOL regulations. Positions are located in multiple cities nationwide, with a salary range starting around GS-9 to GS-11 levels, reflecting locality pay scales and potential special pay

Qualifications

  • 1 year of specialized experience at GS-9 level or equivalent.
  • Experience analyzing and managing federal workers' compensation cases per FECA and related rules.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain case documentation with plans of action.
  • Interpret and apply laws, regulations, and agency policies to claims.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned workers' compensation cases, ensure documents are complete and filed in the system.
  • Monitor case status, update action plans, and ensure FECA and DOL compliance.
  • Serve as technical resource on rights, responsibilities, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with claim development, return-to-work considerations, and timely benefit payments.
