Job summary

City of Indianapolis and Marion County seeks an HR Specialist to support the organization across HR disciplines, including records maintenance, regulatory reporting, and leave administration. The role may rotate through HR functions to broaden impact.

You will assist in hiring, promotions, and medical liaison activities, while maintaining data accuracy in HRIS and ensuring confidentiality in all matters.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Business, Organizational Development, or HR and 3 years of relevant work experience; 1 year may be substituted for each year of education.
• Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations relevant to human resources.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Experience with spreadsheets and databases; proficiency with Microsoft Access.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Maintains records and files with confidentiality and compliance per department policy.
• Assists in hiring and promotion processes, proctors exams, and monitors assessors and scoring materials.
• Compiles and maintains records related to medical leave usage and OSHA regulatory reports.
• Administers limited duty programs and coordinates return-to-work processes.
• Maintains HR information systems data accuracy and supports department reporting.
