Job summary

West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to help foster a positive, inclusive workplace where every team member can thrive. You will streamline HR processes and support growth while strengthening culture and organizational success.

The role focuses on policy development, onboarding, employee relations, performance processes, training needs, and compliance with laws and policies. On-site work model in Des Moines metro area, serving a manufacturing client.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an HR Generalist or similar HR role.
• Strong understanding of HR best practices and employment law.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
• Relevant HR certifications or training.
• Experience working in diverse and inclusive environments.
• Familiarity with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and refining HR policies and procedures to promote a fair and respectful workplace.
• Support employee onboarding, ensuring new team members have a welcoming and smooth introduction.
• Help manage employee relations and address workplace concerns with sensitivity and confidentiality.
• Contribute to performance management processes and employee engagement initiatives.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify training needs and promote professional development efforts.
• Support compliance with employment laws and company policies.
