Job summary

Dewey Auto Group is seeking an HR Specialist to support onboarding, benefits enrollment, and training across our Des Moines metro locations, including Ankeny, Urbandale, and Des Moines. This on-site role emphasizes people-first HR practices in a fast-paced dealership environment.

You will collaborate with leaders to drive engagement, retention, and a positive workplace culture, with travel between sites as needed. 2+ years in HR roles is preferred, and advancement opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, or HR consulting experience.
• Experience leading employee engagement and culture initiatives.
• Knowledge of employment laws, employee relations, and HR best practices.
• Exposure to compensation practices, pay plans, FLSA requirements, and employee benefit plans.
• Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a variety of full-cycle HR initiatives that drive positive employee and business outcomes.
• Foster engagement and champion culture-building programs and initiatives.
• Facilitate onboarding, new hire orientation, benefits enrollment, and training programs.
• Coach and support managers on employee relations, performance management, and retention strategies.
• Partner with leaders to strengthen workplace culture and team effectiveness.
• Manage leave of absence processes, including FMLA administration.
• Handle unemployment claims and support various HR programs and processes as needed.
