Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking an HR Generalist to support daily HR operations, ensure compliance, and collaborate with managers across departments.

You will assist in payroll coordination, ACA/ESTA tracking, onboarding, and HRIS/ATS training for managers and staff. This role emphasizes confidentiality, accuracy, and timely HR processes to support the organization’s mission.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in HR/Business Management or related field.
• 3+ years' experience in human resources or equivalent.
• Confidential handling of employee information and data.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing HR practices and ensure compliance with standards.
• Conduct departmental audits for compliance and accuracy.
• Coordinate with Payroll to process payroll for Harbor Light System employees.
• Support ACA and ESTA tracking and communications for the division.
• Partner with Recruiter for full-cycle recruitment, interviewing, and screening.
• Train managers on HRIS, ATS, and time attendance systems; generate HR reports.
