Job summary

Driftwood Hospitality Management in Durham, NC hires a full-time maintenance engineer responsible for preventative and repair work on the hotel’s mechanical/electrical systems and facilities.

The role includes maintaining FF&E, grounds, pool, and general upkeep, with emphasis on safety, proper documentation, and collaboration with engineering staff to ensure a safe, well‑groomed property.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of all maintenance trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry.
• Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment.
• Must be able to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems in the hotel and act accordingly.
• Follow hotel policies including appearance, grooming, safety and security procedures.
• Skilled in areas such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping.
• Troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions in hotel systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and other equipment throughout the hotel.
• Performs preventative maintenance on a schedule basis (e.g., room care).
• Maintains hotel exterior and curb appeal (lawn care, painting, gardening).
• Follow safety and security rules and department procedures.
• Use protective equipment and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Assist other engineering staff as needed.
