Job summary

Highgate Hotels in Providence is seeking a Steward to maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and storage areas, assist kitchen staff, and support food and beverage operations. The role emphasizes safety, timely cleanup, and adherence to standards.

The position requires flexibility, physical stamina, and strong teamwork. Compensation is hourly with full hotel benefits and opportunities to grow within the Food & Beverage team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• Flexibility to work long and varied hours.
• Ability to stand for the entire shift.
• Able to tolerate hot and cold temperatures.
• Keep a warm, friendly demeanor with guests and coworkers.
• Clear verbal and written communication across levels.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high cleanliness and order in kitchen, back dock, and related areas.
• Clean heavy kitchen equipment, ovens, grills, sinks, and floors.
• Wash pots, pans and utensils, and manage storage spaces.
• Observe proper chemical handling and safety procedures.
• Report faulty equipment to management.
• Assist in setup and breakdown of dining areas and events.
