Job summary

Highgate Hotels is seeking a diligent Steward to maintain cleanliness and proper storage of china, glass, and silver, and to support kitchen staff with sanitation and storage responsibilities.

You'll perform heavy cleaning of ovens and equipment, assist with food storage, and ensure safe handling of chemicals while maintaining a friendly demeanor and ability to multitask in a fast-paced hotel kitchen.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (preferred) or related hotel experience.
• Ability to stand during entire shift.
• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Able to work flexible, long hours.
• Ability to withstand hot and cold temperatures.
• Maintain a warm, friendly demeanor.
• Able to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standard of cleanliness in kitchens, back dock, dumpster and utility work areas.
• Heavy cleaning of ovens, grills, sinks, walls, floors, walk-in refrigerators and freezers and other heavy kitchen equipment.
• Wash pots, pans, and kitchen utensils following proper procedure for cleanliness and sanitation; vacuum carpeted areas.
• Sweep, mop and wash floors in all food and beverage areas, kitchen, and dock area.
• Keep management informed of shortage of equipment and supplies.
• Operate the dishwashing equipment to ensure sanitation of china, glass and silver.
• Return all clean china, glass and silver to storage location carefully to minimize breakage.
• Follow proper safety procedures for chemicals used and report faulty equipment.
• Follow sanitation standards and assist with proper food storage and rotation under supervision.
