Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is seeking a Regular position on a day/evening/weekend shift to manage hospital communications via the switchboard and paging system. You will handle large volumes of calls, identify needs, follow scripts, and coordinate with staff during emergencies.

The role requires high school education or equivalent, strong computer and communication skills, and flexibility to work scheduled shifts including weekends.

Qualifications

• High School or GED Equivalent or 1 year related experience/training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with computer systems and hospital phone/switchboard technology.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks calmly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Handle inbound and outbound calls in a timely manner.
• Identify customer needs, clarify information, research, and provide solutions.
• Follow scripts for call scenarios, alarms, and emergency codes.
• Communicate clearly and professionally using the overhead paging system for emergencies.
• Maintain working knowledge of hospital switchboard and phone system.
• Support departmental operations during evenings and weekends as needed.
