Job summary

Amedisys, part of the Optum family, seeks a Physical Therapist Assistant to provide skilled PT services in patients’ homes under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. You’ll implement individualized treatment plans to improve mobility, strength, balance, and independence while promoting safety and quality of life at home.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited physical therapy assistant educational program as set by CAPTE.
• Current license to practice as a PTA in the assigned state.
• Driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Current CPR certification.
• One year related PTA experience for home health ideal; otherwise mentoring/residency may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provides physical therapy services under supervision of a licensed PT.
• Observes and documents patient responses to treatment and changes in condition.
• Promotes wellness and prevention; supports discharge planning and referrals.
• Documents supervisory activities and patient care in medical records.
• Monitors patient progress and participates in care conferences and quality initiatives.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and coordinates with other care providers.
