Job summary

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• 1 year of experience with medical records.
• 1 year of medical office experience.
• Preferred: 1 year in acute care HIM environment.
• Experience with EMR systems and Cerner is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient health information and medical records with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Retrieve, file, and organize records (physical/electronic) and handle information requests.
• Verify identities and assist providers with access to records.
• Perform quality checks on scanned documents and update demographics.
• Respond to inquiries per privacy regulations and review encounters for completeness.
• Process pended dictations and medical record messages for corrections.
