Job summary

Republic Services, Inc. seeks an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate and maintain heavy machinery at recycling centers, landfills or transfer stations. The role emphasizes pre/post inspections, waste screening, and adherence to safety standards to ensure efficient material handling and site operations.

The position requires hands-on experience with heavy equipment and a commitment to safety, reliability, and professional customer interactions across daily shifts at local facilities.

Qualifications

• Two years’ prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Good customer service skills; professional and courteous to customers and coworkers.
• Good time management; meet responsibilities safely and efficiently.
• Ability to adhere to company safety policies and work schedule.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of equipment.
• Safely operate equipment (forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader, etc.).
• Continuously monitor waste for unacceptable materials.
• Perform minor service and refer complex issues to Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Report and report repairs to supervisor.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Keep shop clean, serviced and stored after each shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
