Job summary

Republic Services, Inc. is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station. You will transfer, spread, cover, load and compact waste or soil, performing routine inspections and minor maintenance.

The role emphasizes safety, adherence to company policies, and efficient equipment use. Candidates should have at least two years of heavy equipment experience and OSHA-site exposure, with a strong focus on customer service and reliability.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Demonstrates safety-conscious workmanship and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment and ensure windows, lights, mirrors and rear view camera are clean.
• Safely operate equipment including forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and other equipment using proper safety standards.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials.
• Maintain equipment readiness and clean tracks or wheels as needed.
• Perform and document minor service on equipment and refer major issues to Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other reports; report repairs as needed.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Keep shop clean, serviced and stored at end of shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
