Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate various heavy machinery at our recycling center or transfer station. You will perform inspections, monitor waste streams, and report maintenance needs to minimize downtime.

The role requires prior experience with heavy equipment operation and a strong commitment to safety and customer service, with adherence to OSHA-regulated site practices. This is an on-site position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years’ prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Good customer services skills to meet and exceed customer expectations.
• Good time management skills to ensure responsibilities are completed safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Company policy.
• Safely operate equipment including forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and other equipment.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials.
• Monitor the condition of the equipment to minimize downtime; clean tracks or wheels as needed.
• Perform and document minor service on equipment; refer major issues to Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Report and other reports; report repairs to supervisor.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure shop is clean, serviced and stored at shift end.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
