Qualifications

• Proficient computer literacy and strong interpersonal skills.
• Must complete the dysrhythmia course within 6 weeks of hire.
• OAS Gold Training and related unit-specific trainings listed.
• English reading and writing proficiency required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Bed management: track, prioritize and assign beds; coordinate admissions, discharges and transfers.
• Operate OA Gold, CIS, Premise and other systems to maintain accurate records.
• Assist with unit projects and scheduling; payroll and timekeeping as assigned.
• Provide clear handoffs to the next shift; communicate pending discharges and admissions.
• Support hospitalist teams with calls, faxes and consults as directed by hospitalists.
• Explain signatures for Medicare forms and maintain patient charts in order.
• Greet and orient new patients and families; assist with unit inquiries and staffing coverage.
• Manage unit inventories, supplies and charge tickets; restock tools as needed.
• Know emergency procedures and mobilize support when required.
• Identify abnormal rhythms and process ECG monitor strips for specified patients.
• Demonstrate one-to-one observation competency as required by unit needs.
