Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Desktop Support Technician for a contract role in New London, CT. You will deliver hands-on IT support to healthcare staff, resolving hardware, software, and network issues both onsite and remotely.

The ideal candidate has 1+ years in desktop or IT support, strong Windows and Active Directory skills, and solid customer service. You will document incidents in the ticketing system and may travel between local sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 1+ years desktop support, IT support, or help desk experience.
• Strong experience supporting Windows environments.
• Experience managing user accounts and permissions in Active Directory.
• Knowledge of PC hardware, desktop support, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience troubleshooting: Network connectivity issues, IP addressing conflicts, network drive mapping, printer connectivity, peripheral devices.
• Ability to provide both onsite and remote technical support.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong documentation and ticket management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide desktop support for end users in a healthcare environment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Windows operating system issues, application problems, and hardware failures.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access requests through Active Directory.
• Support desktops, laptops, thin clients, workstations, and multifunction printers.
• Respond to support requests in person, via phone, email, and remote support tools.
• Diagnose and resolve basic network connectivity issues, including IP conflicts and network drive mapping.
• Configure, deploy, and maintain new hardware and technology equipment.
• Assist with computer builds, deployments, upgrades, refreshes, and cleanup projects.
• Troubleshoot printer issues and peripheral device connectivity.
• Work with patch panels and assist in resolving network-related incidents.
• Document incidents, resolutions, and support activities accurately within the ticketing system.
• Perform routine rounding and provide proactive support to end users.
• Travel between local sites as needed to support business requirements.
