Job summary

BayCare is seeking a Health Information Management Coordinator to support the HIM department remotely. The role coordinates the work of HIM Specialists, tracks EMR queues, and ensures timely processing of patient records.

Training and mentoring are part of the duties, with reporting on HIPAA concerns to management. The candidate will assist with physician documentation compliance and health information release, and cover for HIM Specialists when needed, while contributing to quality and

• Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent, RHIT preferred.
• 3 years of Health Information experience; 1 year in a lead role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the daily operations of the HIM department and monitor EMR work queues.
• Assign tasks, troubleshoot EMR equipment, and monitor productivity and quality metrics.
• Provide training and mentorship to new team members; report HIPAA concerns as needed.
• Assist with physician documentation compliance and timely release of health information.
• Perform duties in the absence of HIM Specialists and handle other assigned tasks.

Role Overview

Supports the daily operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) department by coordinating the work of HIM Specialists and ensuring timely processing of patient records. Monitors electronic work queues, assigns tasks, and assists with troubleshooting electronic medical record (EMR) equipment. Provides training and mentorship to new team members, monitors productivity and quality metrics, and reports Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) concerns to management. Assists with ensuring physician documentation compliance and timely release of health information. Performs all functions in the event of absence of Health Information Management Specialists. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent, preferred Associates, RHIT (Health Information)

Experience: 3 years of Health Information, preferred 1 year in a lead role
