Job summary

Cengage is seeking a Director, Web Experience Design to shape the vision and strategy for our web ecosystem, leading a design team to craft experiences that help customers discover, understand, purchase, and engage with our products.

You will mentor designers, drive experimentation and data-driven optimization, and ensure accessibility and modern practices while advancing AI-enabled capabilities across the customer journey. The role offers broad influence and growth opportunities within Cengage.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of people management in a senior Web Experience Design role.
• Experience with ecommerce, growth, conversion optimization or other transactional digital experiences.
• Deep expertise in UX and UI design, human-centered design, information architecture, accessibility.
• Excellent collaboration and communication, ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
• A portfolio is required to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

• Set the vision for Cengage’s web experience, establishing a clear UX/UI strategy for discovery, evaluation, purchase and engagement.
• Lead and mentor a design team, driving quality craft and measurable impact.
• Partner with Product, Marketing, Analytics and Engineering to develop hypotheses and run A/B/multivariate tests.
• Advance ecommerce and conversion experiences across the customer journey.
• Use data to identify opportunities and prioritize improvements with qualitative and quantitative signals.
• Foster a culture of continuous optimization and iterative redesigns.
• Stay ahead of evolving web practices including AI-enabled experiences and accessibility.
• Develop outstanding design talent and leadership within the team.
