Job summary

Blacksmith Agency seeks a Director of Performance Marketing to lead the PPC and SEO function across client verticals. You will set strategy, own budgeting decisions, and guide two strategists in delivering high-impact results while maintaining rigorous reporting standards.

You will be the client-facing owner for underperforming accounts, shape the department's hiring plan, and ensure the team meets quality audits. This is a management seat, not an IC role.

Qualifications

• 7+ years across paid media and SEO with leadership roles.
• Depth in Google Ads, GA4, Search Console, Meta and Microsoft Ads.
• Experience owning channel strategy and client-facing accountability.
• Proven ability to turn around underperforming accounts with metrics.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Performance Marketing department, guiding PPC and SEO strategy.
• Manage PPC and SEO strategists, setting quality bars and reviews.
• Own channel budget decisions as accounts scale and report outcomes.
• Ensure honest, clear client reporting and audits across channels.
• Be the client-facing owner when accounts underperform and diagnose issues.
• Oversee hiring for the department and conduct first-round interviews.
