Job summary

The Recruiting Hive seeks a hands-on Tax Manager to own the ASC 740 income tax provision and coordinate outsourced tax functions with external advisors and internal stakeholders. This role centers the provision and drives tax process improvements in a fast-paced, PE-backed manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities include leading annual ASC 740 provision, managing audits, overseeing sales/use tax compliance, and advising leadership on tax implications and planning strategies.

Qualifications

• ASC 740 income tax provision experience.
• Experience in C-Corp federal and state tax compliance.
• Familiarity with outsourced tax environments (Big 4 / regional firms).
• Working knowledge of Avalara or similar sales tax systems.
• Proven ability to manage audits, resolve tax issues, and work with tax authorities.
• Strong project management and coordination mindset.
• Ability to operate independently in a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare annual ASC 740 tax provision with current & deferred calculations, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Perform provision-to-return true-ups and variance analysis.
• Prepare quarterly estimated tax calculations.
• Serve as primary liaison with external tax advisors.
• Review federal and state income tax returns and workpapers.
• Manage timelines, deliverables, and open items; support audits.
• Oversee outsourced sales/use tax compliance processes.
• Review filings, exception reports, and reconciliations; address tax exposure.
• Manage multi-jurisdictional tax compliance across federal, state, and local levels.
• Review financial statements for accurate tax reporting.
• Identify tax savings opportunities and planning strategies.
• Develop systems to track regulatory changes and improve processes.
